Greg Brooks of Sebring, formerly of The Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine, Fort Lauderdale, and Midwest Pools, Sebring, is excited to join Heal By Touch. Founder and owner Ashley Tinker has tasked Greg to expand awareness of how Floatation Therapy improves physical and psychological health. His interest in Floatation Therapy began in 1970 when his adolescent studies in Animal Communication led him to Dr. John C. Lilly’s, The Mind of the Dolphin, and subsequently into Lilly’s pioneer work in the study of Consciousness and the phenomenon of Sensory Deprivation.
In 1972, Greg learned the practice of Transcendental Meditation, the health benefits of which many have compared to Sensory Deprivation. He took his first “float” at The University of Bridgeport, CT in 1975 and built his own Deprivation Tank in his parent’s home in 1976. Greg is a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Western Connecticut State University and served as a Certified Mental Health Worker at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown, CT. He will help you find out how to reach a state of deep relaxation in Heal By Touch’s Float Rooms and how this benefits you by lowering your mental and physical stress while also lowering inflammation, the root cause of most pain.
